Learning Life in a Lightless Night.

The cyclone was round the corner and I had a nice nap after a good old breakfast(Dosa), finishing my early morning practice. Waking up late for the lunch, I realise the subtle calmness at my home. Windows and the doors were closed. The TV was switched off. People at my house were sitting at different corners. The sound of the heavy rain bashing at the trees and gracing the windows could be heard along with this weird atmosphere at home.

Even though these events are dramatic to explain as I had waken up just then, it was peaceful. The silence, the sound of the rain, the howling winds gave some sort of satisfaction to my heart. Not talking to any of the folks in my house, including my uncle who was the guest for the day I grabbed a plate, filled the plate with what I require and started eating. It was the time when my Mom started bragging about the effect of winds and the heavy rain. I being naive, laughed at her and continued eating my lunch. After lunch I wanted to buy something to eat. Getting hold of this opportunity, my Mom ordered me to buy a pack of bread along with what I wanted to buy.

And so, I go down, got on my bike and cruise past my street. And my God, I was astonished! Such destruction. The trees were all down. In my colony, for it was known for its significant number of trees, almost every tree was fallen. The stores, all closed(obviously). For the events had been calm and peaceful for me in the first half of the day, this was a drastic turn. Coming back to my home, I was more pumped up than my Mom in explaining the destruction to my family folks.

There was no electricity. It was shut down all over the city due to safety. Mobiles, with no network nor charge. It was getting dark. Lighting up a candle, we sit, we four members. My dad, my mom, my uncle and myself. Looking at each others faces, it was funny for a moment. I was laughing on the inside. Bit bored, to be honest. Then a random conversation on politics started between my dad and his brother(my uncle). I don't remember much after that. I couldn't shut my mouth. It was like a fast forward to two days later.

I surely was enlightened by the wisdom and the experience of the elder people. My uncle recited four lines of Thiruvasagam flawlessly, which explained the theory of evolution. It was written 1000 years ago(approx). After a long time, Charles Darwin enunciates the theory of evolution and was disagreed by the church and the common folks. There is nothing that I'm trying to conclude here. It is all about the curiosity which is rendered while listening to all these historical stories and science. There was a certain occasion when they learnt a few topologies from me, on the latest technologies I knew. All together, it was a healthy four-way conversation in which everybody had a benefit.

The phones switched off. The candles were lit. Everybody in that room had forgotten on what they were doing and indulged into random conversations. That night everybody slept without interacting with any sort of electronics for a long while.

Life? What did I learn about it? :

I learnt that, to know about life, first I have to know myself. To know myself, I need to attain the knowledge of everything that I'm curious about. All the talks I had, all the things I've listened to, only made me realize how naive I was.

"To nullify naivety, cultivate curiosity"

Something I wrote coherently, as I do in my articles.

Life is complex, it is an endless river. It has meaning, sometimes it doesn't. It is endless, though it has an end. There is no destiny nor destination. It goes on and on. It is infinite. Even though we are learning day by day, we are infinitely naive. No one can explain or try to explain it. We just need to experience it. Life! It is one mysterious thing!
